About Dr. Kamelhar

David Kamelhar, MD, is the founding member of Kamelhar-Teller Pulmonology in Manhattan, New York City. He specializes in conditions that affect the lungs and has a particular interest in the study and treatment of chronic cough and in the diagnosis and treatment of bronchiectasis and non-tuberculous mycobacterial infection.

Dr. Kamelhar has been practicing pulmonary medicine since 1980, after completing his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine in New York City. He completed his internal medicine training and a fellowship in pulmonary medicine at NYU as well. 

Dr. Kamelhar specializes in a number of respiratory conditions, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, diagnosing lung cancer, and sarcoidosis. His particular interests include cough, bronchiectasis, and non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections. He uses all aspects of medicine to properly diagnose and treat even the most complicated pulmonary conditions. That includes utilizing other medical specialists and imaging studies to achieve the high level of care that he is known for.

He is the co-director of the Bronchiectasis and Non-tuberculous Mycobacteria Program at NYU Langone Health and has lectured around the United States and internationally on bronchiectasis and non-tuberculous mycobacterial infection. 

Along with caring for the patients of Kamelhar-Teller Pulmonology, Dr. Kamelhar is active in teaching Pulmonary fellows at New York Langone Health. He has been a Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine since 2013.

Dr. Kamelhar is a Fellow of both the American College of Physicians and the American College of Chest Physicians and is a Member of the American Thoracic Society. He has been lecturing in New York City, the United States, and abroad for many years.
